Against his will, Kuai was changed in cyborg. It was motivation similar to Hanzo, but in case of new Sub-Zero, he soon was betrayed by his own clan, Lin Kuei. Then we have Kuai Liang, who fought Scorpion for his fallen brother. And he did it because of his love and devotion for family/Shirai Ryu clan and pain of losing them. In the end Hanzo get a chance to revenge his slaughtered family by his voluntary choice. Quan Chi was impressed/interested by the fact that flames didn’t hurt Hasashi ( who was supposed to suffer here). Kuai Liang wanted to kill Scorpion, because he killed his brother.Īfter his death, Hanzo met him in Netherrealm. He came back as Scorpion and as hell-spawned spectre he sought his revenge against Sub-Zero/Bi Han. Hasashi lost his family and clan (because of Quan Chi’s scheme) and was killed by Sub-Zero (Bi Han, the older brother of Kuai Liang). The chance to see how similar and different at the same time Scorpion and Sub-Zero are is very interesting for me.įor Hanzo Hasashi and Kuai Liang revenge was the starting point (not only as for story itself but also revenge was the motivation for their changes, like symbolic taking a new name: Scorpion and Sub-Zero). Some of this came from the choices they made their emotionally state and how they dealt with their traumas. Despite some similar events in their lives (death of family, service for Quan Chi) and shared motivations (revenge, rebuild of clan), a lot of things played different for them. One of fundamental truth is: you can’t have story about one without other and I like the parallels between those two warriors. I found Mortal Kombat X comics and watched cutscenes from game (for what I’m grateful that people are sharing stuff like that) and story parts of Scorps and Sub-Zero really kick me into fan mode. I usually played during vacation time when I was much younger ( the arcade game, such a good, old times!) Now I rarely play games, but still from time to time I’m checking what’s happening in MK. Since I was kid, Sub-Zero and Scorpion were my favorite MK’s characters.
